Ethletic meets Gutta Soles

Marc Solterbeck (Ethletic) meets Leslie Bentil, founder of Gutta Soles, for an interview in Berlin!

Sneakers made from recycled car tires?! Not possible? Hell yeah! Take a closer look into the awesome project musician Leslie Bentil (Kromanteng) is working on right now in his home country of Ghana.

There, discarded car tires happen to pile up in the gutter, aka „Gutta“ – not only an aesthetic but also, of course, an environmental issue. Why let this material go to waste?, Leslie wondered – and came up with the idea of „Gutta soles“, tying in with the long tradition of footwear made from tires in African countries. Only now the style aspect is going to play a much bigger role. Searching for a partner who is specialized in both fair and sustainable production and trade, he came up to the Ethletic staff and asked for our support. His story is enthralling, so we were ready to meet him right away.

See for yourself: The unique sneakers Leslie wants to offer to a broad clientele in the future are one of a kind in the true sense of the word. In case you like him and his venture, please support Leslie in his current crowdfunding campaign. He and his „Gutta Soles“ are so worth it!
